Introduction

  • Freelance games and technology writer since 2008.
  • Former Editor-in-Chief of 148Apps
  • Current Editor for Unwinnable’s mini-magazine Exploits
  • Published articles and reviews online with IGN, Unwinnable, 148Apps, Gamezebo, Pocket
    Gamer, Fanbolt, Zam, and more.

Experience

Rob began writing about video games and gaming consoles in 2008 at the indie website Crush!
Frag! Destroy! before moving on to 148Apps in 2011 as a freelance writer/reviewer and
eventually moving up to Editor-in-Chief in 2014. He has also written guides and reviews for
mobile games for sites such as IGN, Pocket Gamer, and Gamezebo, as well as board game
and video game reviews for Fanbolt. He currently writes a monthly column for digital magazine
Unwinnable, and acts as the Editor for the Games section of Unwinnable’s mini-magazine,
Exploits.

He has written about a variety tech-related subjects in a number of different ways including how-
to articles on the Apple Watch, yearly Apple keynote coverage, an exhaustive guide on collecting all of the Mortys in Pocket Mortys, and news of an Edgar Allen Poe app written in the cadence and
style of "The Raven". Unrelated to tech he has also written about topics such as life lessons we
can learn from Godzilla films and Gonzo the Great’s struggles as an artist.

My Gear
Rob’s trusty 2014 MacBook Air has been traded in for a much newer 2020 MacBook Pro, which will continue to help him get hundreds of articles drafted and submitted for years to come. His primary portable device used to be an iPhone 6S, but now his new iPhone 12 Pro will be acting as his camera for recording YouTube videos about transforming robots. He still lovingly clings to his Playstation Vita and Nintendo 3DS, but has also made room for a Playstation 4 and a Nintendo Switch. He’s a particularly big fan of the Switch.

Education

Rob has a Bachelor's Degree in Interactive Design from the College for Creative Studies in
Detroit, Michigan.

A Message from Rob Rich

I love to write and I love video games, toys, movies, and clever technologies so being able to
combine all of those things has been a dream I’ve been happy to live for over a decade. It’s
always fascinating to see how someone might find a brilliant solution to a problem nobody knew
they had, or create affordable alternatives for people that don’t have the means.
